Q: Where does
the juice come from?
A: We sell
only the best - Winexpert Wine Kits (sometimes referred to as ingredient kits or
recipes). These kits come from the
world's largest manufacturer of consumer winemaking products
including premium wine kits and wine labels. The kits
include pre-pressed concentrate that comes from all over the world.
For example, if you choose to make the Lodi Ranch II Cabernet
Sauvignon, this juice comes from the Lodi Ranch Vineyard in
California. Another example would be if you chose to make the
Italian Amorone,
this juice originates in Italy.

Q: What
Equipment Set is the best to get started with?
A: All the
equipment sets that we sell have everything you need to make your
wine. Even our least expensive equipment kit includes
everything you need to get started. With any of these sets,
you will only need to add bottles which we recommend you recycle
your own bottles and perhaps purchase a case of new bottles every
now and then to supplement your recycled collection. The
ingredients (Wine Kits) are sold separately. Our most
basic and least expensive equipment set starts at only $40 and our
most expensive set is $145. The $40, 1 gallon kit is
great for starting out or making small batches of fruit wines, but
makes a very small batch.
The ideal kit to get started with, if you don't want to spend a lot
of money is the Vintner's Best® Equipment Kit with Better Bottle
Carboy (Item #3010BB) and sells for only $81. All sets are modular, in
the sense that you can always add equipment to your set at a later
time. If you can afford to spend a little more money than the
Deluxe Vintner's Best® Equipment Kit (Item #3012) is the best
equipment set that we sell. It includes a glass carboy, auto siphon,
auto bottle filler (like a tap), which will turn your wine making
experience into pure simplicity and fun.

Q: What is the
difference between the Better Bottle® and a Glass Carboy?
A: Firstly, each
equipment set comes with a plastic bucket known as the Primary
Fermenter (made of food grade HDPE, similar material to a typical plastic
milk carton), in which your wine will stay for the first 5-14 days
then get transferred to a Secondary Fermenter, which will be your
Better Bottle® or a Glass Carboy. The experienced or advanced
wine makers will tell you that the Glass Carboy is a must, because
it is non-porous and will not absorb flavors or odors from previous
batches. Many wine makers opt to pick up a second glass carboy
for this reason. On the other hand, the Better Bottle®, are
somewhat new to the hobby, and claim their non-absorbing, non-porous
surfaces are easy to clean and sanitize and do not carry over
flavors from one batch to the next. They are certainly worth a look
as they are light weight, easy to handle, unbreakable - when you
accidentally bang them they flex. I've recently tried the Better
Bottle® and I liked using it. The guru's that enter their
wines in local and national competitions will beg to differ and rely
on their glass carboys.

Q:
Do you sell fresh grapes?
A: We do
not. Starting form "scratch", though very exciting, is not
practical for our customers or our business as the picked grapes are
susceptible to spoilage and require destemming, pressing, and
further processing that would require additional our customers to
purchase large equipment.
The product line that we sell was specifically chosen to make the
wine making process easy for anyone to make, whether you live in a
small apartment and have limited space or have a larger space to
dedicate to wine making. One can literally make their wine in
the area of a small closet. If your desire is to break your
back rolling large barrels of wine around in your basement, then
this is not the website for you. The Winexpert products that
we sell are scientifically put together, essentially making them
"fool proof", ph balanced, with easy to follow 4 step directions.
Q:
How many bottles of wine does each wine kit
make?
A: The
Winexpert kits that we sell, start at only $67.00 and make 28 -30
bottles of wine. Each bottle is your typical 750 ml bottle of
high quality wine.
Q: How long does
it take to make wine?
A: The first
step is as easy as pouring your wine kit into a bucket (known as a
primary fermenter) and sprinkling yeast on top (follow the supplied
instructions). It only takes about 10 minutes before your "must" (unfermented wine juice) has started to ferment and begins turning
into wine. About 3 steps later you will be ready to bottle
your wine. You will be bottling your wine in 4 - 8 weeks after
starting (depending on which wine kit you order). Once
bottled, your wine usually ages one month and it is ready to be
served with friends and family.
Q: Does aging
the wine improve the wine?
A: Yes, aging
the wine will improve the wine. Store your wine on its side in order
to keep the cork moist. Store your wine in a cool, dark place. Your
wine should be stored where the temperature is CONSISTENT… Bright
light, movement, and temperature fluctuations can negatively affect
the quality of your wine. Letting your wine age for 3 months or a
year will improve the wine, if it lasts that long!
